1954 Ford Crestline SkyLiner

  • Complete, Original car.
  • 239 V8 Ford-o-Matic.

It’s hard to buy things online… I’m going to take some time to give as accurate description as possible to limit surprises, manage expectations, and help with common questions.

Overview: Overall this is a very decent project car, but is a project. It’s originally a dark green (killarney or highland green) car, which was painted with a roller to… like a sea haze color in the 70’s to keep it from rusting. It was purchased from the original owner by the father of the gentleman I purchased the car from who collected parts for a restoration for a very long time, and passed away recently. It was driven into his garage sometime in the mid-late sixties and sat ever since. Shown in the photos as found… and I haven’t washed it yet.

The car is more than complete and comes with many, MANY extra parts. This can be a running driving car with some TLC, including a Battery, Tune up and Brake work/tires. Like anything it’s got it’s good points and not so good points…

Frame: Frame is good- Surface rust is evident underneath the car, but nothing major and I can’t see any structural issues.

Body: Generally the body is in decent shape… Floors, Trunk, are VERY solid and I don’t see any repairs needed…. Both Rockers have some rust and crude patches…but don’t need replaced. The inside of the trunk is laughably great. Still has the original spare.

Both Rear quarters Need repairs in the wheel lip areas as shown in the photos and have some dings and dents. Very good start no needing replacement, but do need welding repairs and new metal.

Both Front fenders need repairs in the lower areas where they meet the doors, and one has a few holes near the headlight as shown in photos. All of the above are workable, and I don’t see that they require full panel replacement. There is some rust under the front inner fenders.

Doors have some rust underneath near the rockers, but aren’t rusted through. minor surface work.

Roof has surface rust around perimeter of drip edges as shown, but minor surface work.

Chrome bumpers are solid, and good cores for chroming. No collision damage, and are straight and complete.

Glass: Glass is all good including the green roof panel… It needs seals put in it as they’re original. Will polish up easily with no deep scratches or cracks. The rear windshield is from a 1952 and is good, and it also included 1 (or 2) original back windows… one of which is NOS in the original box. current windshield is cracked. All the weather stripping is original and assume it needs replaced.

Drivetrain: Original V8 Y Block is complete with Matching “Ford-o-matic” Trans. I assume the carb needs rebuilt from sitting…. Engine turns freely. i am guessing with a carb and tune up / battery it will run. Everything is present and connected as you would expect from a car that drove into a barn and sat for 50 years, untouched. The tires hold air for a few days and are just rollers… one has a broken bead currently.. but i’ll get it addressed.

Parts: This car come with BOXES of NOS parts, including new tail lights, trim rings, steering wheel horn ring, a full NOS grille (3 pieces) front windshield… and misc badges, ford exhaust, and smalls. I have a power bench seat core, windshield visor, all replacement side trim, window trim, a template for the snap in headliner from the original car, spare dash, bumper filler panel, fender skirts, spare door and parts, and extra bumper and brackets. to be very honest there are so many parts I haven’t sorted though all of them yet. Many, MANY NOS Fomoco boxes of 1954 parts… and i just found 4 NOS 54 hubcaps. I will update the listing with parts photos as I sort them… or just ask for more photos. I believe every piece of trim that’s on the car now, has a spare… some NOS. there’s also extra windows and door panels/misc steel parts like hood hinges, window regulators… rubber parts, emblems and parts in boxes… like i said… PARTS PARTS PARTS.

Clear Ohio Title.

One of 13,144 One year only Skyliners… Numbers matching, and it’s a V8 automatic.

These are very hard to find and stunning when restored.
