1954 Studebaker Commander Starliner Coupe
This is a very rare and desirable model among the hotrod community and collector car circles. These coupes were made for only two years and 54 was the improved chassis design over the 53… these commander coupes have an unbelievably space age design for the mid 50s.
This particular example came out of AZ then California and is totally rust free and straight. The body is actually in immacculate shape and wears a nice two tone paint scheme, a flat turquoise and pearlescent dark blue. Stock these came with kingpin suspension and a flathead 6 here’s how this restomod coupe shows now:
-Frame channeled to late model Jaguar IFS front clip.
-Jaguar suspension and front disc brakes
-Converted to a modern power Rack and Pinion steering system
-Motor is still new. A Chevrolet CRATE 383ci with vortex heads, a full hydraulic roller mild camshaft, 9.5 to 1 comp, a dual-plane gm performance manifold, HEI ignition, custom made shorty headers, and a Holley 670 double pumper carburetor.
-oversized aluminum radiator, hi flow pump and electric fan for cooling.
-Transmission is a crate GM 700r4 OVERDRIVE AUTO with a very nice lokar floor shifter setup.
-Wiring redone, dual exhaust and dual chromed tips.
-All lines in the car are hydraulic braided or otherwise brand new FI rated.
-All the gauges in the car work and there’s a modern stereo added as well.
-Gauges are authentic vintage Stewart Warner and dash is turned aluminum from a late model power hawk.
-Interior was completely redone in a stock style with some awesome additions and has some very minor flaws from regular use but overall shows nicely!
-Carpet, headliner, seats etc are 10/10 shape just stunning.
-Trunk is just perfect.
-The car has never had serious bodywork or accidents and it shows, chrome is beautiful too.
-Very rare GE foglight front bumper. Only seen one other like it.
-Wheels are vintage 14×8 MAG ET’s
NO weird leaks, smells, noises etc… Nice driving car with low miles on the drivetrain that hauls A** and turns heads. Clear California title in my name. Always garaged… make an offer. Most of the other commanders in this price range are not of this caliber… Drives a hundred times better than a stock studebaker of this vintage- Id know.
note* there are some pretty minor paint imperfections the worst of which is about the size of a dime and photoed.
