This 1959 Chevy Apache 38 started life in Wyoming as a fire truck with a utility box and probably a water pump, as there is a pto. The second owner pulled the fire equipment off and put a flatbed on it . I pulled the flatbed and acquired a rare 1959 9′ step side bed, as correct for the ’59 one ton Apaches. The bed is not permanently fastened on the frame yet, as the stock frame was lengthened approximately 3 inches to carry the fire equipment when built. I leave it to the buyer to decide whether to chop the ends of the frame off or to make a couple of snips on the bottom flange of the bed to set the back of it down on the frame (see pics), leaving the end of the frame out for a more solid step/bumper/hitch mount. Original 235 motor is installed and running, but smokes some. Sale includes an extra complete, turning 1959 283 V8 acquired for this project. Clutch needs work to be drivable, although it can be maneuvered at slow speeds. Brakes work. Please examine pictures closely for body condition. Aside from some rust-through and surface rust and a few dents and dings typical for an unmolested Apache PU in Wyoming, the cab and bed are pretty solid and straight for their age with the exception of the rear fenders, and the bed needs new wood (or diamond plate). Frame and springs look good. Mileage shown on ODO is 79704, but speedometer is not working so I don’t know actual mileage. Other than the above, the only issues I’m aware of are the heater motor and some of the gauges are not working. Also included are 5 more original dually wheels matching the two currently on the front and a set of 4 more 8-lug Mags. I was really stoked about doing this project, as I restored a ’59 Apache 31 in the 70’s, drove it for many years and loved it, but had to let it go. This truck would be perfect for a slide in camper, trailer, hauling some real loads, or just cruising. But, I recently lucked into a ’49 Diamond T pickup project and don’t have time or space for both, sadly.
