The 180 series were marketed as “Executive Cars” and proved to be the bread-and-butter for Mercedes back in the day. This example comes in a calming Blue that’s believed to be re-painted, but the Gray interior looks original and is in good condition for its age.
The car runs and drives well, with the 1.9l Inline four-cylinder engine and the 4-speed manual transmission giving its new owner decent performance and great gas mileage for a classic car.
If you like honest survivor cars that tell a story just looking at it, this Mercedes 180 could be your next car. Although a few hundred thousand 180 Sedans were built between 1953 and 1961, Mercedes-Benz had a limited number of dealers in the US at the time and consequently very few were exported Stateside.
Owning a car like this will get you a lot of attention and you probably won’t see another one, unless you go to a Mercedes-specific event.
